…to go to heaven.
LOL, I know, I know. Some of you might be thinking: “Is she for real?”
I can assure you that I am. The reason I want to go to heaven isn’t because of how amazing it’s supposed to be (though I am going to share a few glimpses below that gives us n idea of its splendor).
Heaven is the place where God Himself resides, and that is the most important part. I want to be with The One who loved me first, who saved me, and who is my true source of life. He saved me in every way possible: spiritually, emotionally, physically—and I long to be in His presence, fully and forever (really I just want a forever and ever hug).
The New Jerusalem, a magnificent city in heaven adorned with unimaginable beauty and splendor:
“The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. the foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The twelve gats were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the cit was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.” -Revelation 21:18-21
Can you even imagine a city like that? A place of unimaginable beauty, where gold is as transparent as glass, and the gats are made of pearls? It’s beyond anything we could ever conceive on earth, and yet it’s just a fraction of the glory that awaits us.
But as much as heaven’s beauty is breathtaking, the greatest promise is the assurance that Jesus is preparing a place for us. As He says in John 14:2-3:
“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.” -John 14:2-3
Heaven is not just destination; it’s a reunion with the Savior. It’s where we will dwell forever with The One who loves us most In Philippians 3:20-21, we’re reminded that our true citizenship is in heaven, not on this earth:
“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, but the power that enables him to bring everything under his control. Will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body.” -Philippians 3:20-21
I look forward to the transformation that will take place in heaven! Our bodies will no longer know sickness, pain, or weakness. We’ll be made new, in perfect alignment with God’s glory.
And just picture the eternal life that will flow freely in heaven, as described in Revelation 22:1-2:
“Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as Crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations.” —Revelation 22:1-2
Can you imagine the imagine the eternal restoration that will take place? A river of life flowing from God’s throne, and the tree of life offering healing and nourishment for everyone. It’s a place of total peace and life:
“See, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.” -Isaiah 65:17
In heaven, there will be no more pain, no more sorrow, no more regrets. All things will be made new, and the old will be wiped away.
Finally, Matthew 5:12 encourages us to persevere in the face of hardship, knowing that our reward in heaven is great:
“Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” -Matthew 5:12
Heaven is our true home, where we will be reunited with God and receive our eternal reward.
So, my secret fantasy? It’s heaven—not just because of the beauty or rewards, but because that is where God is. He is the One who saved me, who loves me deeply, and who promises that one day I will be with Him forever.
And that’s a reality I look forward to (my forever and ever hug).
See you later,
I pray many many many many many blessings over you,
xoxo
