..."Only my life and what I care about matter."
That seems to be the mindset of so many people I come across these days; a sort of completely selfish mentality. But in reality, every soul matters, even if their struggles, dreams, or pain aren’t directly linked to our own. Every person is someone’s daughter or son, and everyone is trying to navigate this complex journey called life. Yet, I often see people stepping on others just to satisfy their own desires.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.” -Philippians 2:3
If people truly cared the way they claim, they wouldn’t hurt others in the process of pursuing what they care about. I pray often that people will become more aware of the world beyond their own, at least enough to show basic human decency. Not even deep compassion–just basic decency.
I’ve witnessed firsthand how self-centeredness can destroy someone’s quality of life. I’ve experienced it from those who once claimed to love me–until things improved for them, then suddenly, I became an afterthought. I can tell you from personal experience that experiencing such treatment is absolutely heartbreaking. It’s utterly exhausting. And I know I’m not alone in feeling this way.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18
There are moments when I hear such coldness, and I wonder: what’s the point? Why am I here in a world that feels so devoid of love when I’m a personal who sees the value of it? But I recognize that those thoughts are the enemy whispering lies. I rebuke them whenever I can, and I remind myself that God has a plan, even when I don’t understand.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you’, declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’.” -Jeremiah 29:11
God commands us to love one another, even when it’s difficult. That doesn’t mean we should allow ourselves to be mistreated or taken advantage of. But within our capacity, we can choose to consider others; to try and be a light in a world that can feel so dark. Even if I have nothing material to offer, I can give kindness, a moment of connection, or even something as simple as a smile. Maybe no one else has done that for them all day.
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” -Proverbs 11:25
The smallest act of kindness, respect, or care can change the course of someone’s day, or even their life. So, if you’re reading this, I encourage you to take a moment to reflect. What can you do today to show care beyond your own personal world?
“Let all that you do be done in love.” -1 Corinthians 16:14

I’m starting a fast today for 7 days. I won’t be specifying what kind of fast because that part must remain private. But, I hope to invite anyone who wishes to participate to join in on this event, as I believe it can only strengthen our prayers and relationship with God. If you’re interested feel free to comment at any time, even if you decide to join in after the first day.
I will make a video each day for the people who join. Sorry about the short notice. I was called to fast all of a sudden due to my life circumstances. God bless you either way. The daily Bible study will resume, however, I will be combining both the King James Version and The Message until further notice due to circumstances in my personal life. I pray you will understand. I will leave time stamps to make it easy to start at which version you prefer. Thank you for your grace. <3
