..."Relax" by Vacations.
I’ve spent many years worrying about so many things that are out of my control. I scraped and scrambled, trying to be a part of things that I ultimately didn’t belong in. I didn’t know that at the time, though, because I was seemingly welcomed. Still, those things aren’t around anymore, and if they were of God and for me, they would be here with me.
Today, on my YouTube Channel, I read The Book of Genesis, chapter 24 (in both the King James Version and The Message version), and several things stood out to me about it. Abraham’s matured faith in God. He was old and stricken in age, but he was a man who walked with the Lord. At this point, he possessed an unwavering faith in God’s promises. When he instructs Put, his eldest servant (probably the one he trusts the most), to find his son, Isaac, a wife from his homeland, he doesn’t allow Isaac to return there, even if it turns out that the wife doesn’t come back with Put to marry him. Why? Because Abraham understood that God had made a promise, a covenant, a very long time ago.
And though it took a long time (and many repeated promises and blessings from God) for Abraham to really walk in that promise fully, by this old, stricken age of his, he understood the assignment.
What was this promise?
Well, God told Abraham that he would be the father of many nations, that they would be a special, set-apart people of the world, and that his children would possess the land of Canaan. He also promised him Isaac, the son who was now in need of a wife. Even though it took a long while for Isaac to manifest into this life—it happened just as God had said. And along the way, Abraham was blessed greatly, despite moments of falling and taking matters into his own hands outside of God’s promises and will.
But at this point and time—an old Abraham, warm in his bed—he didn’t doubt God whatsoever. He just simply believed and made decisions based on God’s promises. He didn’t allow Isaac to go back to Abraham’s hometown because God said that his seed would inhabit this new land that they were already in. And lo and behold, Abraham made the right decision. Things went so smoothly in this chapter—for everyone involved—because they knew, believed, and walked with God, even though they weren’t sure how He would answer or lead them into finding the answer they sought (finding Isaac a wife: Rebekah). But it works out so smoothly, even down to Isaac being pleased with his wife just upon her meeting him.
This chapter made me think about my own life. I’ve been going through so much over the past few years—really my entire life. This season, in particular, has done everything it could to keep me down and out; in despair to give up. But God didn’t let that happen to me, even when I was panicking and making hasty decisions without Him. He never lost sight of me and my struggles.
“Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!” -Psalm 139:7-8
He joined me in my struggles and kept me company in the storm. He helped me back on my feet—literally. So, I’ve learned, like Abraham, that taking matters into your own hands will result in trouble because we are doing this based on our worldly fears, worldly desires—something of the flesh for sure and not of God at all.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on the your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.” -Proverbs 3:5-6
So, when things fall apart or get worse because of those human decisions, we find ourselves panicking even more due to walking the wrong path. The best thing to do—at least for me, I’ve found it to be true—is to rely on God for guidance. Get to really know who He is. Learn about His promises. Truly believe in Him and walk according to His word and ways. You may be surprised by how much easier living life will be, and how much more smoothly things will go for you—especially if you don’t worry but believe in your Father to handle things.
I know, that’s challenging. But Abraham struggled too, and it took him a long while to get to the level of faith he possessed in his very old age, where he no longer took any matter into his own hands outside of the will of God. He let God take charge, and Abraham followed. And he was blessed because of it.
Now, that isn’t to say that following God means life will be easy. On the contrary, it means that intense spiritual warfare will target you during your walk through the valley. But—and this is a really big but—God is more powerful than anything in existence. He is the Creator.
“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge.” -Psalm 18:2, ESV
He will not let those who love Him be moved.
So I write all of this to say—coming full circle about the song—“Relax” is one of my favorite songs right now and has been for about a year and a half. It reminds me not to take this world so seriously. You really can’t, you know, unless you wish to be consumed by it and risk losing your soul for the material pleasures of the world.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” -Romans 12:2, ESV
I don’t want that. I would miss God too much. So, here I am, taking in a deep breath in an overwhelming period of my life. And God is here, holding my hand, keeping me afloat, making great plans for my life. How do I know that? Because He told me personally, and it is written in His word.
“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” -Romans 8:28, ESV
So I’m going to relax about life and take it easy, holding strong to my faith in my Father; my Elohim. With Him, all things will work out for those who love Him—and boy, do I! I encourage you to think that over. Are you stressed out or in despair about things going on in your world? Well, I suggest you look up!
“Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually!” -1 Chronicles 16:11, ESV
Start seeking the Creator about your issue. He will help you figure it out. You just have to seek Him, and when He instructs you or reveals a promise to you, believe it with all your heart and live according to it. You’ll be surprised how things may turn out, no matter if it’s instant or takes a while to manifest. Just know, also, that when it takes a while to manifest, it just means that the blessing is extraordinary.
Hold on to what God has promised you and just…chill. That’s what I’m doing from here on out.
God bless you for stopping by today.
I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you,

Lyrics
You were stressing out
Over nothing real
So tell me what it’s about
Tell me what you feel
Relax
Take it easy
Lie down next to me
Forget your worries
You have the time you need
There will be tomorrow
So don’t believe what you read
‘Cause everything will follow
Relax
Take it easy
Lie down next to me
Forget your worries
