...[television]...[a loving family member that meant well].
I’m eternally grateful to anyone who thinks of me. I wouldn’t even all this a “worst” gift. There are plenty of people who don’t have a television and would love such a gift; and for that, I am very thankful. I suppose the thing is…I don’t watch TV. It isn’t my thing at all. I haven’t owned one of my own since probably the early part of 2009. I’ve lived in places with people who have owned them, and have watched movies etc with those people but I don’t really partake when on my own let alone regularly.
Still, even though I mentioned this to the individual who offered to buy it for me (even stating that I wouldn’t use it), she went ahead and sent it anyway.
Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. -2 Corinthians 9:7
So, now I have a tv for the first time in more than 15 years. It’s strange, but I know it will come into use when guests are over who like that sort of thing. The person who bought it for me even comes by to watch movies with me (especially just after my surgery). I don’t care much about money or things. I was more than happy just to have her company.
Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel. -Proverbs 27:9
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! -Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
But if she wanted to buy this gift, I’ll accept it too because I love her and I can see that her intention was to give me something nice to enjoy at home while I was healing.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” -1 Samuel 16:7
And it’s really the thought that counts; what’s in the heart of someone. And I believe she had a lovely heart. For me, that’s all that matters. Whenever I turn it on and watch something (even if it’s with someone else), I’ll definitely be thinking of her with a grateful smile on my face and in my heart.
I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you!
