…soul healing.
I’m not going to mention what it was, because it was very personal. Instead I’d like to bring focus to what the act of giving someone something positive to take with them. Sometimes, something as simple as a compliment or kind word can make all the difference in someone’s day…or even life. Have you ever had a day like that? A day where someone’s words lifted you up, reminded you of your worth, or even changed the direction of your thoughts for the better?
That’s the power of kindness. A single act of love or encouragement can bring healing to the soul.
The Bible calls us to live in this way—showing love and kindness to one another as a reflection of God’s love for us. Jesus summed it up beautifully when He spoke about the second greatest commandment:
”Love your neighbor as yourself.” —Matthew 22:39
This simple yet profound command reminds us that we are called to treat others with the same care, respect, and compassion we desire for ourselves.
The Power of Kindness
Kindness isn’t just about being nice; it’s about living out God’s love in practical ways. Through kind words and actions, we can uplift, encourage, and even change lives. Proverbs 16:24 says:
”Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.”
Every time you compliment someone, encourage them, or speak truth into their life, you are reflecting God’s heart. Your words have the power to heal, restore, and remind others of their inherent value in Him.
Loving One Another
The Bible is clear about the importance of loving one another, not just in words but through action. Jesus said in John 13:34-35:
”A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. —John 13:34-35”
This kind of love isn’t superficial or conditional—it’s deep sacrificial, and life-giving. It’s the kind of love that goes beyond saying, “I care,” and shows it through service, generosity, and compassion.
Doing Good to One Another
Kindness and love are tangible expressions of the gospel. They are how we share God’s love with the world. Galatians 6:10 encourage us:
”Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”
When we do good—whether it’s through kind words, helping a neighbor, or Ben sharing a simple smile—we are living out our faith and bringing God’s kingdom to earth.
Sharing God’s Love and the Gospel
Ultimately, every act of kindness is an opportunity to point others to the source of love: God Himself. When we show kindness, we reflect His character and open doors to share the good news of Jesus. As 1 John 4:7 reminds us:
”Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes for God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and Knows God.” —1 John 4:7”
Helping Each Other in Community
God created us to live in community, supporting and building one another up. Hebrews 10:24-25 reminds us:
“And let us consider how we’re may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all more as you see the Day approaching.”
When we help one another, we create a ripple effect of God’s love. The kindness we give inspires others to do the same, and together, we create a community that reflects His heart.
A kind word, a soul-healing compliment, or a simple act of love can transform a life. It’s a reminder that we are called to love one another, share God’s goodness, and help each other on this journey.
So, as you go about your day, take a moment to encourage someone, speak life into their situation, or lend a helping hand. You’ll never know the impact your kindness might have—both in their life and in eternity.
As Jesus said in Matthew 5:16:
”Let you light shine before others, that they may see you good deeds and glorify you father in heaven.”
I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you—especially those of you who are actively spreading kindness to others in their day.
xoxo
