…any song that sings the melody of the world.

It took me a while to really reflect on this question: What is a song I hate to love? Music is such a powerful force in our lives. Some say it’s therapeutic, and I’d have to agree. It can calm the mind help us focus, make road trips more interesting, and even set the mood for an entire day. But music is also manipulative. When used in the wrong way (with the wrong intentions), it can shape our thoughts, alter our emotions, and influence our choices—often without us even realizing it.

Pay attention: The Bible makes it clear that Satan, the deceiver, was not just any angel—he was a master of music. Ezekiel 28:13 describes his creation:

”The workmanship of your timbres and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were created.”

This suggests that music was built into him, making it one of his greatest tools for influence. It’s not wonder that much of the world’s music glorifies everything opposite of God—lust, greed, violence, selfishness. Many of these songs are undeniably catchy, crafted to pull us in. But the real question is: What are we feeding our soul?

”Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” —Romans 12:2

Music is more than just background noise. It plants seeds in our hearts. That’s why I try to be intentional about what I listen to. My heart gravitates towards songs that praise and worship God—music that uplifts my spirit and draws me closer to Him.

As I’ve shared before in a previous post (See Blog: I Remember From…My Childhood), I’ve sung to God since I was very young. I would make up song just for Him, and in many ways, I still do. My voice was created for Him to enjoy, and I’m perfectly content with that. There’s something about songs that glorify God that moves me in a way nothing else can. They encourage me. They lift my spirit. They keep my mind focused on the truth. They help me walk in righteousness and make better decisions throughout my day.

”Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” —Ephesians 5:19-20

There are so many songs out there that are easy to love but hard to justify. But the music of heaven, the songs that magnify the Lord, always fill me with peace. That is the kind of music I want to fill my life with. Because at the end of the day, i don’t want the world’s melody in my heart. I desire the song of the Lord; even if I just made it up.

”Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and a song of praise is fitting.” —Psalm 147:1

I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you,

xoxo
