...declared, meditated and trusted in the Words of God.
I use a lot of Bible verses in my posts to back up the things that I’m sharing with you. The “wisdom” that I share with you is from the Word of God. I’ve spent my entire life reading it, and over the past few years, I’ve been really studying the Scriptures much more diligently in attempt to understand as much as I can about God, people and the world. It’s a lifetime course, for sure.
But lately, I’ve been trying tor recite and memorize verses by heart this month. There are many that I currently know by heart, but there are so many that I don’t know. A friend recently told me that she memorized the entire book of Philippians. I hadn’t even thought of doing something like that! But I was impressed, and her sharing her own journey definitely inspired me to pursue this venture further.
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.” -Joshua 1:8
“Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.” -Proverbs 7:2-3
“I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.” -Psalm 119:11
The Word of God backs up my desire to recite its contents. meditating on them regularly helps me remember God’s promises. I quote them boldly aloud, depending on the situation I’m in. This includes in my dreams. If you call on the name of the Lord during a nightmare or demonic attack, the enemy must flee.
“Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,
so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow…
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” -Philippians 2:9-11
From experience, they always do; right away! It also helps to speak the Word of God with authority, because they will coward away.
“Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” -Ephesians 6:17
It also makes you feel safer and more confident in your days, knowing the power and authority of His word and truly believing in them. Declare the Words of God just as Jesus did. Say, “it is written” with confidence to remind yourself of it power.
“Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” -2Timothy 4:2
Declaring God’s word can also encourage yourself and others around you to take heart–hold onto faith in The Creator.
“So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.” -2 Corinthians 4:16
“Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” -Psalm 31:24
It’s not always easy though. At first my faith wavered a lot. It takes time and practice; getting used to utilizing it. But that’s just another reason why I read the stories of the Bible. I get to learn how other people–long before my time–lived life walking with God. God’s Word never returns void. Everything He says (which are His promises) are true and must manifest in the lives of those who believe and follow Him (on the narrow path).
“So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” -Isaiah 55:11
Reading the Bible has helped me in so many ways. It brings me knowledge, helps me make sense of the world I live in and it comforts me. There are times when I feel like God is taking directly to me when I read His words (or listen to them as an audiobook).
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.” -2 Corinthians 1:3-4
“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you…” -Isaiah 66:13
I got the idea of memorizing verses daily from a YouTuber named Tiphani Montgomery. On her channel is a video titled, “The 30 Day Clap Back Challenge!!!”. An angel posing as a customer service agent recommended her to me a few weeks ago and it changed my life on the power of God’s Word. I was able to view it in an entirely different way; a way that helped me manifest God’s promises into my own personal circumstances. Since it was shared with me, I hope that sharing it with you might give you a fresh perspective on how to do your daily with a bit more ease.
So, yeah, I’m memorizing Scripture. Sometimes I just repeat the same verse for days. Sometimes I read entire chapters (mostly Psalms so far). Either way, it’s a practice that I will be taking into my life from here on out. It’s a habit that improves the quality and direction of my life. I make different choices, and respond instead of reacting to certain circumstances. It feels good to give the control I thought I had to The One who hold the world in His hands. Instead of trying to have my own way, I live by His way and walk in His will, knowing what to expect.
I’m going to go and read another verse for today along with my daily, chapter a day Bible reading series you can find on my YouTube Channel: RozieLand.
Until tomorrow…
