...Honestly, I don’t know.

I find many names—both for boys and girls—beautiful in their own way. I suppose if I’m ever blessed with a daughter, I’ll take time to think deeply and prayerfully about what name to give her. For now, I don’t have a definitive answer.

But I will say this: names carry weight. They have meaning. Sometimes, a name seems to follow a person through life, almost like a shadow of their purpose or personality. In Scripture, names often had deep significance, reflecting identity, destiny, or the circumstances of one’s birth.

Think of Samuel, whose name means:

“God has heard” -1 Samuel 1:20

…Or Isaac, whose name means “he will laugh,” given after Sarah laughed in disbelief at the promise of bearing a child in her old age (Genesis 21:6). Even Jesus—Yeshua—means:

“The Lord saves” -Matthew 1:21

So if you’re naming a child, I encourage you to be thoughtful. Names are more than sounds we call each other by—they’re sometimes prophetic, shaping the heart and journey of the one who bears it.

“A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.” — Proverbs 22:1

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” — Jeremiah 1:5

I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you!
