...be human.
Yeah, that’s right.
Who wants to be a fly on the wall, only to eat rotten, spoiled food and waste, then get swatted when we become an annoyance to the humans around us—or worse, end up in a human fly trap? I’m not interested in being anything or anyone other than myself.
I like myself.
But I have to confess to you: for a long time, I didn’t, because others didn’t. I used to think something was wrong with me because of that. When I was a little girl, I wanted to become a graceful lady that people really respected. But, as of recent times, through deeply challenging trials, I learned that I already am a lady—a woman of God, who is growing in spirit each day. I love myself. I believe I am very beautiful inside and out.
And I don’t need anyone to validate that anymore. And when I look back, it’s clear that they never really did that anyway.
My confidence and beauty come from my Father in Heaven.
As Psalm 139:14 (one of my favorites) reminds us:
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
So no, I don’t want to be a fly on the wall. There’s something very special about being human. God made us with such care and love—more than even the time He put into making the entire world, and all the other things in it: the trees, the rivers, the sky, the animals.
In Matthew 6:26-30, Jesus says:
“Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? … See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. … Will He not much more clothe you—you of little faith?”
He reminds us—you are loved. You are cared for. You are seen.
And more than that, He died for us. For me. For you. So that we would have the opportunity to choose to be with Him forever after our time here.
John 3:16 tells us plainly:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
He is with us now. His presence is everywhere, all around the world—far more than what a fly on a wall could see or comprehend.
And I’m so glad.
Because even during those times when I felt alone… when I wondered if anyone even noticed me or understood what I was going through… I know now that I never really was alone. My Father was always there, watching over me, comforting me, guiding me—even when I didn’t realize it.
Deuteronomy 31:6 assures me:
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
So no, I wouldn’t trade this beautiful life of mine to be some quiet observer. I want to live. I want to feel. I want to keep becoming all that He’s destined me to be. I’m not just a bystander—I’m a masterpiece in progress, handcrafted by the One who breathed life into stars and into me.
And that, to me, is better than being any fly on any wall. Let’s not sell ourselves so short, eh?
Thank you so much for reading today.
