...[A Little Princess (1987)]...[I resonate deeply with the story].

I resonate deeply with the story. I love the book, and this particular version of the film (more like a six-part series) touched me in a very special way since the first time I discovered it nine years ago. I still watch it a few times a year because I’m so fond of it.

I can relate so much to Sarah Crewe. She lost everything… but her heart never faltered. She was naturally caring and loving, and there was an unspoken purity in her soul that some people wanted to crush—but couldn’t, no matter how hard they tried.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” -John 1:5

That light in her… I see it as the same kind God places in us when we walk closely with Him. Sarah’s story was a humbling journey. And when her life changed—when blessing and prosperity returned—she never forgot those who had suffered like she had. She used what she gained to lift others up, especially those who had shown her kindness during her most desperate moments. That echoes the spirit of Proverbs 19:17

“Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward them for what they have done.”

I’ve related to that more than I can put into words. I, too, have lost everything—seemingly in ways that were bizarre, undeserved. But like Sarah, I was never truly poor. And like her, I’ve learned: God was there. He preserved my soul and built my character through every trial, every heartbreak.

“Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him” -Job 13:15

That verse has lived in my heart through many storms. Nothing is worth giving up my connection with my Elohim! NOTHING!

I’m so, so grateful to my Heavenly Father for caring about me. I wouldn’t have made it without Him. He’s earned my loyalty, my respect, and my love over and over again. I write these things and record Bible reading videos because He asked me to. I’m not fully out of the storm yet, but I know the worst is behind me.

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning” -Psalm 30:5

This season has taught me about others, about the world, and most of all—about God. Who He truly is. How vast and deep His love runs (far deeper than I could ever understand)

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” -Psalm 34:18

The story of A Little Princess reminds me of the Book of Job, and of Joseph (the story we’re reading now in our daily Bible reading series on YouTube) near the end of Genesis. They were both upright men of God who didn’t turn away from Him, no matter how painful their journey became. Their stories inspire me. They could have grown bitter—but they didn’t. Instead, they chose faith. And in that faith, they triumphed.

By the grace of God, I will too.

The last line of the film says:

“That little one has never been poor, not even when she didn’t have a penny to her name.”

I love that line because I know God agrees.

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven” -Matthew 5:3

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth… but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven” -Matthew 6:19–20

In God’s eyes, we are never truly poor when we belong to Him.

I truly hope this post will encourage someone out there that is going through a big storm of their own. I pray that you cling to God and let Him guide you through it, learning whatever lessons He has for you along the way that will build your character! You can do this–you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you! I’m rooting for you!

I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you!
