...the ones I make up.
I don’t dance as much as I used to due to medical circumstances, but I still sing and hum to myself a lot. Whether I’m cleaning, cooking, or running an errand, I can’t seem to help myself–nor do I wish to. It brings me a slice of happiness, a simple joy that feels almost second nature.
I don’t always need lyrics. Sometimes, the melody alone is enough. Other times, I create my own words, pouring out whatever is in my heart.
“Sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things.” -Psalm 98:1
I like to think that some of the songs in my heart were placed there by God Himself, a divine gift meant to comfort and uplift me. When I was a little girl, I used to sing to God all the time. I still do. Maybe those melodies were always meant to be prayers in their own way, little offerings of praise.
“I will sing to the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.” -Psalm 104:33
God loves songs–not just for the joy they bring us, but because they glorify Him. Praise through music is a way of drawing closer to Him–whether you’re physically able to dance or not–of speaking words that sometimes feel too deep for ordinary conversation.
“Address one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.” -Ephesians 5:19
Music isn’t just something I do; it’s part of me. And even if my body doesn’t move like it used to, my heart still dances in worship.
What song do you like to groove to?
I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you,
