...true Shalom.
That’s right. That’s the number one thing I want, and it isn’t anything tangible. It is just an experience that I yearn for and I believe the time for it is coming very soon. Once I attain it, I will cling to my blessing of true peace.
When I speak of “peace”, I’m referring to obtaining true peace within myself. I have it–for the most part–but I want the kind of peace that resonates into my life and environment as well. I want to live such a peaceful life that chaotic personalities flee upon the sight of me! I want peace, safety and stability, with God by my side. I’m a very simple person. I don’t desire much; I only long for something real, something secure.
I have endured painful experiences, some as recent as a few years ago. It has taken a great deal of love from God to bring me to where I am today–to a place of inner peace.
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18
But, again, I’m wanting more than just inner peace. I need to be free from environments that drain, harm and disrupt the life God has called me to live.
I no longer feel the need to surround myself with crowds of people (I only did because I hung around other people who did that), especially those who do not genuinely care. Shallow interactions, meaningless connections that don’t amount to much once tested in one of life’s challenges…They are usually and simply, distractions, taking up space where God’s presence and true love should dwell. I know now that real peace can only come from Him.
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You.” -Isaiah 26:3
I trust that the time is coming when I will finally move on from where I am now. I will be free from abusive, negative environments. And when that day comes, I know I will appreciate peace more than ever before. What once seemed impossible will become my new reality, and I will be deeply grateful.
“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'” -Jeremiah 29:11
I have waited my whole life for this shift. I have never asked for much from this world because, in the end, I know it cannot offer what I truly need. Only God can. And in His perfect timing, He will bless me with the peace I seek–the peace that only He can provide.
