…a Unicorn!

I’ve been working with children for nearly seen years now, and one things I’ve noticed—year after year—is how unicorns dominate the heart of all the little girls on the playground. There’s something magical about these mythical creatures that captures the imagination. But for me, the idea of being a unicorn goes beyond the glitter and sparkles.

To me, a unicorn represents uniqueness, wonder, and beauty. It reminds me of how God made each of us so special. The Bible, in the King James Version, even mentions unicorns, often as a symbol of strength and singularity.

“Save me from the lion’s mouth; for thou hast hear me from the horns of the unicorns.” -Psalm 22:21

”God brought them to of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of unicorn.” —Numbers 23:22

The Bible reminds us that we are uniquely made, each with our own purpose and value. God didn’t create us to be carbon copies of one another. Instead, He designed each of us with thought and care, giving us strengths, talents, and even our quirks for a reason.

”I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works: and that my soul should knoweth right well.” —Psalm 139:14

When I think about being a unicorn, it’s not just about standing out for the sake of being different. It’s about embracing the uniqueness God gave me and using it for His glory. Sometimes, the world makes us feel like we have to fit in, but God calls us to be set apart, to shine as lights in the world:

”Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” —Matthew 5:14

Each of us is masterpiece, hand—crafted by the Creator of the universe. The beauty of being uniquely made is that God didn’t just stop at making us unique; He also gave us a purpose.

”For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” —Ephesians 2:10

When I see excitement children have for unicorns, it reminds me of how God delights in us as His children. We are precious to Him, special in His sight. So today, I choose to embrace my inner unicorn—not because of mythical magic, but because I know that being unique and special is exactly how God made me to be. And guess what? He made you that way too!

Let’s celebrate our God-given uniqueness, just like the children who light up at the sight of their favorite unicorn toy.

”But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” —Isaiah 64:8
