Let me tell you, it was super tasty. Over the years, I’ve become a home cook. There’s something special about preparing a meal with my own hands, choosing each ingredient, and creating something delicious from scratch. I enjoy replicating restaurant dishes, experimenting with new flavors, and even coming up with my own recipes. Cooking has become more than just a necessity, it’s an experience. I find it both relaxing and exciting all at once, and I’m always looking for ways to improve my skills.
But no matter how satisfying a good meal is, no matter how rich the flavors or how nourishing the ingredients, there is a kind of food that surpasses all others—the food of the soul.
Jesus said in Matthew 4:4:
”Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
This verse reminds us that while food sustains our bodies, only God’s Word can truly sustain our souls. We spend so much time making sure we eat well, but how often do we feed our spirits?
The Bible describes itself as nourishment—something to be consumed and savored. Jeremiah 15:16 says:
”When your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.”
Just like a well-cooked meal brings comfort and joy, God’s Word fills us in a way nothing else can.
Psalm 119:103 compares Scripture to the sweetness of honey:
”How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth!”
Have you ever experienced that moment when a Bible verse speaks directly to your situation? It’s as if God is feeding you exactly what you need at that moment.
Even Jesus refers to Himself as the ultimate source of nourishment: John 6:35:
”I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
Physical food satisfies for a time, but it doesn’t last forever. No matter how full we feel after a meal, hunger returns. But the Word of God is eternal—it fills us with wisdom, strength, and peace that don’t fade away.
So while I love cooking delicious meals, I know that the best meal I could ever “eat” is the Word of God. It nourishes my spirit, strengthens my faith, and brings me closer to Him. Just like we need daily food to survive, we need daily time in the Word to truly live.
If you’re feeding your body, don’t forget to feed your soul. God’s table is always set come and eat!
Will you take a bite so see if it tastes good to you?
I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you,
xo
