...my own life's choices.
This is THE straightforward truth: God gave me free will and with it, the power to choose my path through life. Each decision holds the potential to make or break the course of my life. It may seem like a heavy responsibility, and at times it certainly feels like one. But, I’ve come to realize it doesn’t have to be burdensome if you know the right way to go. For me, God’s way has been a lifesaver.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11
From birth, God has been an essential part of my life. But there was a season when I’d strayed, much like the prodigal son. I wandered down a path of my own making, one that led to confusion, heartache, and tremendous loss. I can say, without a doubt, that the pain I experienced during that time was ultimately the result of me turning away from God’s ways and guidance.
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” -Romans 6:23
But returning to God was the best decision I’ve ever made. That, too, was a choice I had to make for myself.
“Return to me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of hosts.” -Malachi 3:7
Boy, am I glad I did. Each day–every moment, really–I learn more about the world around me and, most importantly, about myself. I’ve discovered who I am in Christ and how valuable I am simply by being myself, embracing the better parts of me, the best version of me that God created.
“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” -Genesis 1:27
Now, I choose my words wisely, as well as my actions.
“Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” -Colossians 4:6
As I go about my day, I make it a priority to have a positive impact on those I interact with. I am so grateful to even have another day to do so and I know that with God’s guidance, I can make the most of every opportunity He gives me.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” -Psalm 118:24
And I will do just that, as each day we receive is such a gift. I want to use it wisely.
Catch you later.
I pray many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many many blessings over you,
